MPS CLIENTS - Unicorn Shipping (Pty)
Ltd.
Unicorn started to use MPS 1.5 in 1999 as their Philippine Manning Agent was also using the same program and Unicorn saw the benefits of having the data of their Filipino seafarers available at a click. The program was however also implemented as the Unicorn in house crew management tool for all seafarers employed in the fleet. Spectral was tasked with adding extensive customization enabling Unicorn Personnel Department to run their entire ISM mandated check list requirement from MPS.
Unicorn is now using MPSv2 which provides the company with even more computing power to assist with the Personnel Management. Especially the Graphical Long term planning in MPSv2 is seen as a major step forward to manage the rotation programs of the Unicorn seafaring pool. STI has further designed a web interface that is used by Seafaring applicants to submit their job applications, data from the web interface can be imported into MPS in case the applicant is accepted for employment.

Philippines and is every year graduating about 200 students. The
campus of PMMA is located in San Narciso, Zambales about 100
kilometers north of metro Manila.
PMMA in implementing their "BRIDGING PROGRAM" is now using the

MEETS CLIENTS-
Anglo Eastern Ship Management
|
|
| |
Anglo Eastern Ship Management has implemented MEETS STCW in a big way. The program is now being used onboard more than 200 ships and is implemented onboard to enhance the training provided to the deck and engine cadets employed by Anglo Eastern. Captain Pradeep Chawla, Group Training Director at Anglo Eastern is very pleased about the results from the use of the MEETS STCW and sees MEETS as an important tool for the company to be able to train deck and engine cadets to become first class deck officers. The contents of the two programs is large and the built in recording of training status makes it possible for cadets to start the MEETS training at one ship, and move their training status to another MEETS program installed onboard their next ship. The Training department will further be able to monitor the training status of each cadet in their office module of MEETS.

SPECIAL PROJECTS CLIENTS- The NIS
Project
|
|
| |
The NIS Project
The NIS Project started in 1993 since more and more
Norwegian ship owners found that their seamen required better basic
knowledge. The Norwegian Ship-Owners Association (NSA) therefore
decided to get involved in the education of Cadets for the NIS
fleet. The challenges were to find schools to cooperate with,
facilities, educational aids, books, and faculties. The remedy was
to upgrade the facilities, develop syllabi based on IMO model
courses, new updated books, sizes of classes, teaching aid and
equipment purchased and refurnish classrooms. Donations like
engines, boilers, copiers, printers and computers were
given.
The NIS Project is now in full swing and cooperates
with the following schools:
1. University of Cebu 2. Maritime Academy of Asia
and the Pacific (MAAP) 3. J. B. Lacson Foundation schools in
Bacolod, Arevalo and Iloilo
The NIS cadet will spend his two first years at the
schools and then one-year on-board Norwegian controlled vessels when
he finally returns to the school for his last academic year. A total
of 4 years education and practical training.
The Computer
System
It was decided in the end of year 2000 to develop a
special computer program that would be used to monitor all aspects
of the Cadets educational career and later also part of his
professional career as a seafarer. Spectral Technologies was
selected for the job and the application was given the name CMS
(Cadet Monitoring systems). The CMS program is now used at the
NIS headquarter .
For Spectral, it was a challenging and
interesting project and the company look forward to work with the
NIS project for may years to come.
